(ISEQ: RYA, LSE: RYA, NASDAQ: RYAAY) is an Irish lowcost airline headquartered in Swords, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland, with its main operational bases at Dublin and London Stansted Airports. Ryanair was the most active international airline by passenger numbers, and both the largest European airline by scheduled passengers carried.

Ryanair uses over 370 Boeing 737800 aircraft, using a single 737700 used mostly as a charter aircraft, but in addition as a backup airplane and for aviator training.[6] The airline continues to be characterised by its own fast growth, a result of the deregulation of the aviation industry in Europe in 1997 along with the success of its low-cost business model. Ryanair‘s route system serves 34 states in Europe, Africa (Morocco), and also the Middle East (Israel)

Ryanair is Europe’s favourite airline, taking 119m p.a. on more than 1,800 daily flights from 85 bases, connecting over 200 destinations in 33 countries on a fleet of over 360 Boeing 737 aircraft, with a further 300 Boeing 737’s on order, which will enable Ryanair to lower fares and grow traffic to 200m p.a. by FY24. Ryanair has a team of more than 12,000 highly proficient aviation industry professionals delivering Europe’s No.1 on time performance, and an industry leading 31year safety record.
In 2015 Ryanair traffic grew by 18% to 106.4m customers while our average fare fell to 46, load a 93% load factor and still with no fuel surcharges. We rolled out Year 2 of our Always Getting Better” programme using a committed USA website, the unveiling of our new Consistently Becoming Better customer charter, a new Ryanair Car Hire service, new cabin interiors with slimline seats, new crew uniforms, and enhanced inflight menus. Our brand new personalised web site contained an improved tailored offerings and My Ryanair” customer enrollment system allowing even faster bookings. We established 7 new bases in Belfast, Berlin, Corfu, Gothenburg, Ibiza, Milan Malpensa and announced full year net profit of €1.24bn, a rise of 43% on the prior year and became the very first airline to carry 100m international passengers in a single year.

History
ATR 42 in 1991

From way back its establishment in 1984, Ryanair has grown from a modest airline flying the brief journey into the largest carrier in Europe to London from Waterford. Ryanair now has over 11,000 members of staff working for the business, most of whom are employed and contracted by multiple agencies to fly on Ryanair aircraft, or as is the situation for aviators, the vast majority are either service employed or self employed and their services are contracted to Ryanair. Of 2013 including over 1,200 pilots. After the fast growing airline went public in 1997, the cash raised was used to expand the airline right into a panEuropean carrier. Sales have climbed from 231 million in 1998 million in 2003 and €3,013 million in 2010. From 48 million to 339 million over the same span, similarly net gains have grown.
Early years

The organization added a second path flying around Dublin–Luton in direct competition for the very first time. Under partial EU deregulation, airlines could start new international intraEU services, as long as at least one of both governments gave approval (the so-called doubledisapproval regime). The Irish authorities at that time refused its acceptance, to shield Aer Lingus, but the service was, under Margaret Thatcher‘s deregulating Conservative government, approved by Britain. With two courses and two airplanes, the fledgling airline carried 82,000 passengers in one year.

In 1986 the directors of Ryanair took an 85% stake in London European Airways, from 1987 this provided a link using the Luton Ryanair service forward to Amsterdam and Brussels.[12] In 1988 London European operated as Ryanair Europe and after began to run charter services. Ryanair passenger numbers continued to improve, but the airline generally ran at a loss and, by 1991, was in need of restructuring including the closure of Ryanair Europe/London European. Michael O’Leary was charged with the job of making the airline profitable. O’Leary Fast decided the key to profitability was low fares, fast turnaround times for aircraft, no frills and no business class, in addition to controlling just one model of aircraft. With Ryanair sponsorship titles, a Short Sandringham was operated in 1989 but never flew revenuegenerating services for the airline.

O’Leary returned at that time controlled by national carriers, which were subsidised to various amounts by their parent nations, from a call to Southwest Airlines convinced that Ryanair could make tremendous inroads into the European air market. He competed together with the leading airlines by providing a no-frills, low cost service. Flights were scheduled into regional airports, which offered handling charges and lower landing than larger recognized international airports. O’Leary as Chief Executive took part where he helped out at Dublin Airport on Ryanair flights with bags handling. After the consistent pursuance of its own low-cost business model, by 1995, its 10th birthday was celebrated by Ryanair by carrying 2.25 million passengers
